A watermark is text or an image drawn across the pages you choose, with control over opacity, rotation and placement. Text watermarks take Latin letters, digits and basic punctuation — that is what the embedded font can draw, and input outside it is refused with a clear message rather than silently rendered blank. A logo uploads as PNG with its transparency preserved.

Nine placement positions plus a tile mode cover the standard patterns: a single DRAFT across the middle, a small CONFIDENTIAL in a corner, or the diagonal repeating grid that survives cropping. Opacity is a slider you can watch on the live preview; rotation steps are 0, 45, 90 and −45 degrees.

The watermark is drawn on top of the page content — this tool does not paint behind the text. It applies to every page by default, or restrict it to a range when only the first page should carry the mark. Removing someone else's watermark is not a feature: once drawn, a watermark is part of the page.

The watermark you configure is drawn onto each selected page by the worker on this device, at the opacity and angle the preview shows, and the written PDF downloads directly — no upload, no server-side copy, no account, with outbound requests blocked at the policy level and verifiable in the network panel while it runs.

The Latin-only text limit is a property of the embedded font, not an oversight, and the refusal is loud on purpose: a blank watermark fails silently in both directions, unfelt by the person adding it and invisible to anyone reading. An uploaded PNG carries any script you can draw, and the Android app embeds font subsets for its watermarks — the boundary is stated, worked around honestly, and never faked.

The draft circulation is the standard job: a thirty-page proposal goes to six reviewers, and every copy should say what it is. Type DRAFT, opacity around thirty percent, rotate 45 degrees, position center — or Tile if the reviewers photograph pages and you want the mark to survive cropping. Apply to all pages, download once, send the same file to all six; the mark is in the pages, not in a header the printer might drop. The result card reports how many pages were stamped, so the six reviewers all hold the same marked edition. Changing the wording for the second round is one edit and one download, since the original file never carried the first mark.

Why use Watermark PDF on PDFMason

Nothing is uploaded

There is no server. Your documents stay on your machine.

Live preview

What you see on the page is exactly what gets written.

Text or logo

Type a text watermark or upload a PNG with transparency.

Works offline

Once the page is loaded, you can turn off Wi-Fi and it still works.

Latin text only — by design

The embedded font draws Latin letters, digits and punctuation. Other input is refused with a message, never silently blank; use an image or the Android app for other scripts.

PNG keeps transparency

A logo with a transparent background stays transparent — the page shows through the empty parts.

Tile for crop-proofing

Tiled watermarks repeat across the whole page at a spacing tied to the size slider, so cropping cannot remove the mark.

Drawn on top

The watermark sits over the content at your chosen opacity. Painting behind text is not offered, and removing watermarks is not what this tool does.

Opacity you can read

The slider previews against the actual page, so "visible but not shouting" is a setting you check, not a guess.

Restrict to a range when needed

First-page-only marks — a logo on a title page — are the range control set to just page 1.

Watermark PDF FAQ

Do you upload my files?
No. There is no upload endpoint on this site. Every tool runs in your browser using WebAssembly, and the page’s Content-Security-Policy blocks outbound connections entirely. You can verify it: open DevTools → Network and run the tool.
Can I use my logo?
Yes — upload a PNG. Transparency is preserved.
Why can’t I type Chinese/Arabic/Cyrillic?
The browser tool embeds a Latin-only font, so characters outside Latin, digits and basic punctuation won’t render. You’ll see a clear message instead of a blank watermark. The Android app embeds a font subset for your text.
Can the watermark go behind the content?
Not in this tool — it’s drawn on top with adjustable opacity.
Can I remove a watermark from a PDF?
No. This tool adds watermarks; it can’t remove someone else’s. Once a watermark is drawn into a page, it’s part of the page.
Does it watermark every page?
By default yes. You can restrict it to a range — for example only the first page.
